The Mum and Baby Osteopathy Clinic offers breastfeeding & bottle feeding support for parents alongside osteopathy treatments or as separate appointments.
As a registered Breastfeeding Councillor and Osteopath for babies I am able to support families with practical, effective and evidence-based feeding advice for parents breastfeeding, expressing milk, combination feeding or bottle feeding.
Each appointment is focused on you and your baby, with the aim to inform you, give you confidence and help trouble shoot any feeding difficulties you may have.
At The Mum & Baby Osteopathy Clinic, feeding support is initially offered as either a 60 minute separate feeding support consultation, or a 90 minute combined appointment with osteopathy treatment. Click here to find out more information about our consultations.
If you would like support but are not sure what type of support is right for you, feel free to get in touch and we can work it out together.
Feeding your baby in the first few weeks can be overwhelming and challenging. Feeding support can help feeding go smoothly for both you and your baby. It can help reassure you about your milk supply, check your baby is feeding well, find positions that work best for you, or support you if you are struggling with your baby latching.
Commonly parents come for feeding support with challenges such sore nipples, nipple damage, fussing at the breast, difficulties latching or feeding, or after a tongue-tie release.
As a Breastfeeding Councillor I am qualified in covering these areas of feeding, and as an Osteopath am able to assess feeding with a structural understanding of feeding mechanics. I am not however, a Lactation Consultant or Tongue-Tie Assessor. I work closely with other feeding specialists, and so if you require help beyond my scope of practice, I will advise and refer you to the appropriate person if needed.
Breastfeeding and bottle feeding support alongside osteopathy is beneficial in addressing any feeding issues which may be caused by muscle tension in your baby’s jaw, neck or head from birth. For example, a shallow or difficult latch, nipple pain or discomfort feeding. It may also be helpful after a tongue-tie release to help baby adapt to changes in their tongue movement.
This is a 90 minute appointment which combines a feeding consultation with an osteopathic assessment and treatment. A combined appointment includes:
