Osteopath, Breastfeeding Councillor & C-Section Scar Specialist - Lara Schweidler (M.Ost, DPO)
Hi I'm Lara. I am a Registered Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council with over 14 years experience working with patients of all ages, and specialise in treatments for Mums and Babies.
My qualifications include:
- Masters in Osteopathy (M.Ost) - British School of Osteopathy.
- Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy (DPO) - Foundation of Osteopathy.
- Infant Feeding Coach/Breastfeeding Councillor certificate - Birth, Baby & You, accredited by FEDANT (Federation for Antenatal Educators).
- C-Section Scar Specialist (RESTORE Scar Therapy certificate)
I have always had an interest in women's health, fitness and love working with children. These interests led me to work at the Osteopathic Centre for Children (OCC) for over 2 years alongside general practice. During my time there, I worked with a team of Osteopaths and experienced Paediatric Osteopaths, meeting many new families and gaining specialist skills and knowledge in osteopathic treatments for women throughout pregnancy and after birth. The busy Children's Clinic provided me with lots of hands on experience treating babies and children, and a much greater understanding of child development.
Since working as a Paediatric Osteopath, I have seen a greatly increasing number of newborns with feeding difficulties. I therefore decided to become a Breastfeeding Councillor to further my knowledge and be able to offer feeding support to parents independently and alongside Osteopathy treatments.
More recently, I completed a C-Section Scar Specialist certificate with RESTORE scar therapy which covered detailed knowledge on scar classifications, scar healing and advanced massage skills to treat scar tissue following a Caesarian birth.
I have 2 children and have experienced the challenges of pregnancy, birth and caring for a newborn baby! I am therefore passionate about providing a treatment space exclusively for families with new babies; where treatments are focused on the wellbeing of Mums and their babies in a friendly, supportive and nurturing environment.
